Product Description

Gibson SG Standard — Rock's Reliable Icon There's a reason the SG Standard has stuck around since the 60s: it just works. Lightweight, fast, and loaded with that punchy midrange growl the SG is famous for, this one covers a ton of ground — clean rhythm tones, driving riffs, cutting leads — without asking you to overthink your settings. It's mahogany body, mahogany neck, straightforward controls, and tone that shows up the moment you plug in. Mahogany Body, Built for Bite The solid mahogany body gives the SG Standard its signature voice — a little more midrange punch and a little more immediacy than you'd get from a bulkier guitar. That translates to clear, articulate notes whether you're strumming through a verse or digging into a solo. A long-tenon neck joint ties the neck and body together more solidly than a standard joint, which means better sustain and a more resonant feel overall. 490R and 490T Humbuckers These Alnico II humbuckers lean into a late-PAF vibe with just enough midrange push to stay clear in a full band mix. The neck pickup rounds out nicely for cleans and blues phrasing, while the bridge pickup tightens up for riffing and lead work. A 3-way toggle and dual volume/tone controls put a wide range of tones within easy reach — no pedals required to go from smooth to snarling. A Neck That Feels Like Home The rounded mahogany neck profile is comfortable without feeling chunky — equally happy chording all night or running scales at speed. The bound 22-fret rosewood fingerboard adds a touch of class along with a warm, smooth response, and the SG's deep double-cutaway means the upper frets are never out of reach. Hardware You Can Count On A Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece keep tuning stable and intonation locked in, string after string, set after set. It's the same dependable setup that's anchored SGs for decades — simple, sturdy, and built to hold up under real use.
