Every Mod Collection SG starts life as a regular Gibson SG Standard — until a tiny cosmetic quirk pulls it off the line before it ever reaches a store shelf. Instead of scrapping a guitar with great bones, Gibson's Mod team gets creative: stripping it down and rebuilding it with a one-off finish and a hand-picked set of hardware you won't find on any catalog model. The result is a guitar that plays and sounds like a true Gibson SG, but looks like nothing else in the room.

This particular one wears Spanish Raspberry — a bold, deep-red custom finish exclusive to the Mod Collection, poured over the SG's classic double-cutaway mahogany body. No two Mod Collection guitars are finished quite the same way, so once this one's gone, it's gone for good.

Tone That Still Means Business

Underneath the wild finish, this is still a real SG. A 490R neck pickup and 490T bridge pickup deliver the growl and bite the SG's been known for since the '60s — warm and woody in the neck position, snarling and cutting when you kick over to the bridge.
