Product Description

Gibson Custom B.B. King Lucille Legacy — Transparent Ebony

There's only one guitar that carries B.B. King's name, and this is it. The Lucille Legacy is Gibson Custom Shop's faithful recreation of the ES-355 that B.B. played for decades — same semi-hollow shape, same missing f-holes (he asked for them gone to cut down on feedback at high volume), same understated elegance. This is a guitar built around one man's exact preferences, and it still plays like it.

A Body Built Quiet, Not Hollow
The 3-ply figured maple/poplar/maple body keeps the semi-hollow warmth and sustain of the classic 355 shape while the solid maple center block (and the absence of f-holes) tames squeal on stage. The figured maple grain shows straight through the Transparent Ebony gloss nitrocellulose finish, so you get depth and shine without losing that dark, moody look B.B. was known for.

Custombuckers, Wired the Old Way
A pair of Custombucker humbuckers deliver true vintage PAF character — smooth, vocal, and touch-sensitive enough to go from a whisper to a growl with just your pick hand. The harness behind them is hand-wired with CTS audio-taper pots and paper-in-oil Bumblebee capacitors, and a 6-position Varitone switch gives you tonal options most guitars this classy never bother with.

A Neck Made for Bending Strings
The all-mahogany set neck carries a SlimTaper profile — thin enough to move fast, substantial enough to feel solid in your hand. The 22-fret ebony board is cut to a 12" radius, so bends and vibrato come easy, and mother-of-pearl split-block inlays mark your way up the neck in classic Gibson style.

Details Fit for the King of the Blues
Every piece of hardware is gold-plated, from the Grover Tulip tuners to the ABR-1 bridge and TP-6 fine-tuner tailpiece. The truss rod cover is engraved with B.B. King's name, and the bound tortoise pickguard, black top-hat knobs with gold inserts, and chicken-head Varitone switch tip round out a guitar that looks as regal as it sounds.
