Since it was first designed in 1968, the Denis Wick DW5504 Trumpet Straight Mute has given trumpet players exactly what they need: a mute which is perfectly in tune in all registers, a great feel which doesn't effect the airflow of the instrument, and the ability to produce a searing fortissimo in orchestral tuttis.
The design of the DW5504 is that of a very open mute, bigger than all its predecessors, providing a full sound, yet it avoids the problem of sharp intonation. Its hand-spun aluminium is both light and extremely resonant.
